Introduction
This Beneficiary Selection Policy (“the Policy”) is developed and implemented by the charity trustees of Anu Initiative CLG (“the Charity”) in accordance with its mission and objectives. The Policy outlines the principles, criteria, and processes for selecting beneficiaries who will receive assistance and support from the Charity.
Objective
The objective of this Policy is to ensure a fair, transparent, and accountable process for selecting beneficiaries, while aligning with the Charity’s mission, values, and available resources. The Policy aims to promote equal opportunities, diversity, and social impact through effective beneficiary selection.
Definitions
Beneficiary: An individual, group, or organization that is eligible to receive assistance, support, or services from the Charity. Within Anu Initiative, these are colloquially known as ‘Impact Partners’
Principles
The following principles guide the beneficiary selection process:
a. Transparency: The beneficiary selection process will be conducted in an open and transparent manner, ensuring clarity about the criteria, procedures, and outcomes to all stakeholders.
b. Non-Discrimination: The Charity will not discriminate against any individual or group based on race, color, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
c. Equity: The Charity will strive to provide equal opportunities to all eligible beneficiaries, taking into account their specific needs, circumstances, and priorities.
d. Accountability: The beneficiary selection process will be accountable to the Charity’s stakeholders, adhering to legal requirements, ethical standards, and the principles of good governance.
Beneficiary Selection Criteria
The Charity will establish clear and objective selection criteria to assess the eligibility and suitability of potential beneficiaries. The criteria may include, but are not limited to:
a. Alignment with Mission: The beneficiaries’ objectives, needs, and activities should align with the mission, vision, and values of the Charity.
b. Impact: The Charity will consider beneficiaries whose inclusion may result in positive environmental impact.
c. Capacity: The beneficiaries should demonstrate the organizational, financial, and operational capacity to effectively utilize the support provided by the Charity.
d. Vulnerability: The Charity will consider the degree of vulnerability or disadvantage faced by potential beneficiaries when assessing their eligibility.
e. Geographic Focus: The Charity may prioritize beneficiaries from specific geographic areas based on identified needs and the availability of resources.
f. Collaboration Potential: The Charity may prioritize beneficiaries who exhibit potential for collaboration with other stakeholders, promoting partnerships and collective impact.
Beneficiary Selection Process
a. Application: Potential beneficiaries will be required to submit a comprehensive application providing relevant information and supporting documents.
b. Evaluation: The Charity will evaluate the applications based on the established selection criteria. This evaluation may involve a review of the submitted documents, interviews, site visits, or other appropriate methods.
c. Decision-Making: The selection of beneficiaries will be made collectively by the charity trustees, ensuring a fair and unbiased decision-making process.
d. Notification: All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the selection process, including successful and unsuccessful candidates.
e. Feedback: Unsuccessful applicants may request feedback on their applications to assist them in improving future submissions.
Review and Monitoring
The Charity will periodically review and evaluate the effectiveness of this Policy to ensure its continued relevance and alignment with evolving needs and best practices. The selection process will be subject to ongoing monitoring to maintain accountability and fairness.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
The Charity will handle all beneficiary-related information with strict confidentiality and adhere to applicable data protection laws and regulations.
Policy Review and Amendment
The Charity trustees will periodically review this Policy, ensuring that it remains in compliance with legal requirements and aligns with the evolving needs and goals of the Charity. Any amendments to the Policy will be made in consultation with relevant stakeholders and communicated effectively.
